How an always-on-the-go lifestyle led to creating a better way to plan meals
The Problem
Like many busy professionals, Declan found himself constantly on the go. With a packed schedule and little time to plan, he often resorted to takeout meals or last-minute grocery store runs.
"I was spending a fortune on one-off meals and takeout. When I did try to cook, I'd buy ingredients for a specific recipe, use them once, and watch the rest go to waste in my fridge," Declan recalls.
He tried existing meal planning apps, but found they often suggested complex recipes with exotic ingredients he'd never use again. The result? More food waste and more frustration.
The Solution
Frustrated by the lack of practical options, Declan decided to create his own solution. GrubsUp was born from a simple idea: meal planning should be easy, practical, and focused on ingredients you'll actually use again.
"I wanted to create something that worked for real people with busy lives. Something that didn't require you to be a gourmet chef or spend hours planning your meals," says Declan.
